NCMA training

NCMA has worked with CWDC to develop the Home-based unit of the level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People's Workforce (CYPOP5). This high-quality award for those working in home-based childcare with children aged 0-16 years offers the same high standard you have come to expect from NCMA, but with a number of options adding flexibility and choice for learners.

The course is made up of seven modules and a Skills for Life assessment. NCMA has developed a range of optional learning approaches that help and encourage flexible learning, allowing the candidate to study in a manner than is suitable for their needs. These are:

  • Independent home study
  • Online study
  • Traditional class tutoring.

This can be supported with:

  • Telephone tutoring
  • Online tutoring
  • Expericenced personal tutoring.

There is also a supporting text book and learner workbook for the course.

The expectation is that, for an average candidate, it will take around 40 hours' study to complete the course (this estimate includes the assessment tasks). Successful candidates will be awarded four credits towards the full level 3 qualification.

Local authorities will be able to select either a single delivery package (for example, all components delivered online) or a combination of different delivery options (for example, some modules delivered online and some by face-to-face delivery).

See the chart below for more detail about the modules (click to enlarge). Email us on newdiploma@ncma.org.uk for more information about how NCMA can help deliver training.
