Luton
Luton Children Come First Childminding Network
Luton has been a pilot authority for DCATCH funding
with the aim of supporting parents of disabled children who want to
go back to work.
The service we manage
Luton has an NCMA Children Come First (CCF) Network, covering
the whole local authority, and is a valuable example of
childminders working in partnership with others services to provide
a tailored service to families in the area.
Referrals to the network come from :
- Disability Social Work Team
- Luton Early Years team
- Children’s Centres and
- Children’s and Families Information Service.
The scheme provides brokerage services and supporting placements
to parents, and facilitates specific training according to each
child’s requirements.
The results
This work has made a significant difference to families by
supporting parents through the process of looking for childcare,
and by ensuring the child is placed in a setting that is tailored
to their needs.
The service team
This team contains four members of staff providing services to
childminders that will meet their needs so that they can offer high
quality services to children, young people, their parents and
carers.
