Quality Improvement Schemes
NCMA has started a review of quality improvement schemes
for registered childminders in Wales, following the withdrawal of
the Quality First scheme and changes to the Children Come First
Network model for childminders.
Having held consultations with registered
childminders, staff, parents of children being cared for, key
stakeholders and children themselves, we have started to put
together ideas for a new scheme to support the quality improvement
and learning development of childminders in Wales.
One of the key elements of this project is the
development of assessment paperwork; this is what we are currently
looking to pilot with childminders who do not have access to a
childminding network funded by the local authority.

get involved, please email Claire Protheroe at
