Nanny membership statistics
NCMA's annual membership survey included nannies for the first
time this year. The initial results are below.
- A typical NCMA nanny member is aged 25-34 and works an average
of 33.8 hours per week caring for children from one family.
- Nannies most frequently obtained their current post through
personal contacts/word-of-mouth (52%) or a nanny agency (30%).
- Approximately one-third of nannies (30%) think that demand for
their services has increased over the past year.
- A minority of nannies (7%) live with the families of children
for whom they provide care.
- Fifty-two per cent of nannies commonly care for children aged
3-4 years old, with similar proportions caring for children aged
5-7 years old (51%) and 1-2 years old (48%).
- Five per cent of nanny members care for disabled children and
children with special educational needs.
- Sixty-two per cent of nanny members have achieved a childcare
qualification at level 3 or above.
- Ninety-four per cent of nanny members reported themselves ‘very
satisfied’ or ‘somewhat satisfied’ with their membership.
