2011 Membership Survey results
The number of NCMA childminders receiving ‘good’ or
‘outstanding’ Ofsted results has risen by 17% (or 11 percentage
points) in two years, according to our annual Membership
Survey.
Results from the 2011 survey, revealed this week, show that
the number of NCMA childminders providing high-quality care has
continued its upward trend.
Responses from members showed that NCMA childminders are
providing high quality care and learning for children, with 74% in
England achieving a ‘good’ or ‘outstanding’ rating in their most
recent Ofsted inspection.
The 2011 result builds on the 72% achieved last year, and the
63% in 2009 reflecting the increasing professionalism
amongst childminders.
Meanwhile, Welsh childminders are providing more childcare on
behalf of social services than any other group among NCMA’s
membership.
Overall, 22% of Welsh NCMA childminders are providing care to
children on behalf of social services, compared to the 15% England
and Wales average.
Twenty-two per cent of Welsh childminders are also caring for a
disabled child or a child with a special educational need compared
with the 20% national average.
