Clear support for EYFS
Ofsted, the education, child and social care inspectorate
for England, has released a report today into the 'Impact of the
EYFS'.
The report will contribute to the review by Dame Claire Tickell
into the Early Years Foundation Stage, to which NCMA has also
contributed.
Key elements of the report mention that the majority of
childcare providers, including registered childminders, are
delivering the framework very successfully and children are
benefiting from it. It also highlights the advantages of continuing
professional development and peer support in providing
higher quality childcare.
Liz Bayram, NCMA's Joint Chief Executive welcomed the findings,
saying "This report clearly indicates that the majority of
registered childminders are delivering the EYFS successfully, and
we would encourage government to maintain the
framework.
"Ofsted’s evidence reinforces our own
research, which demonstrates that registered childminders who
undertake continuing professional development opportunities are
able to provide higher quality childcare and confidently use EYFS
in their home-setting.
"NCMA is keen to work with the Government to ensure all
childminders have access to the professional development opportunities that will
enable them to continue to deliver EYFS well, giving children the
best start in life."
The report is available on the Ofsted's website or to
download via the link on the right.
