Road Safety Week 2011
The theme of this year's Road Safety Week, which takes place
from 21 – 27 November 2011, is "Too Young to Die".
Road Safety Week is a community event that aims to inspire you,
whoever you are, to promote road safety to people around you,
during the Week and beyond.
There are some excellent resources within the Road Safety Week website
for childminders and nannies to reinforce the importance of
road safety to the children in your care. You can also read a
number of tips from road safety professionals.
For more information about Road Safety Week visit www.roadsafetyweek.org.uk.
Beep Beep!
Especially for children under 7, Beep Beep! Day is a great way
of sharing road safety messages with little ones. You can hold your
Beep Beep! Day on any day of the year. Visit
Brake's website for some bright ideas for your day.
Be safe and seen
To help you make sure the children are visible in the dusk and
dark, kit them out with NCMA's high-visibility vests and
armbands.
A pack of three
high-visibility vests, available in child's small and medium,
is just £9.99. The vests are bright orange, with reflective strips
so the children will really stand out. They slip over the child's
head, covering their coats.
You can also buy a pack of six reflective
snap-on armbands for just £9.20. These armbands wrap around
anything - wrists, upper arms, rucksack straps - anywhere you'd
welcome extra visibility and they're ideal for winter school
runs.
For these and other useful items, visit the NCMA shop at
www.ncma.org.uk/shop.
