EYFS consultation response
NCMA has responded to the Department for Education
(DfE) consultation on
a Revised Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS.)
In July, the DfE launched the consultation on their revisions to
the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework. The proposed changes
took account of the recommendations made by Dame Clare Tickell,
Chief Executive of children’s charity, Action for Children, in her
independent review of the EYFS, which was published in March.
NCMA gathered members' views to inform the
response, and we would like to thank everyone who took time to
contribute to this process. In the submission NCMA calls on
the DfE to work in partnership with relevant early years
organisations to produce robust supportive guidance, and
to invest in training and support so our registered
childminders and other practitioners are well prepared for the
implementation of the framework in September 2012.
The consultation responses address a broad range of issues,
including EYFS training, the level of paperwork associated with
delivering the EYFS and the proposal for practitioners to give
parents a written summary of their child's development in the prime
areas when their child is 24–36 months.
