Associations
Local authority associations work in a very
similar way to childminding groups, but
usually cover a local authority-wide area, normally representing a
number of childminding groups. These associations are often also
called county or borough associations.
Depending on the way in which your association is run, you may
either automatically be a member or have to elect to join, in the
same way you join a childminding group.
Local authority associations are autonomous of NCMA but can be
"recognised" by NCMA, in the same way groups can be affiliated.
These associations can play a powerful role in representing
childminders in your area to the local authority.
